Interesting title to that book, Craggy. The reviews are generally positive on Amazon.

No mention of erging knowledge in the blurb about the writer, who describes himself as "an author, speaker, thought leader, and innovator" who has a "passion for teaching others" and recording "best practices" in life. He sounds like the kind of guy I would cross the road to avoid so I'll be interested to hear what you make of his programme!

I was feeling annoyed at myself for not having got back on the rower since the end of January. Initially I thought I'd use the Valentine's challenge thing as motivation - but I still didn't get my act together.

So today I decided just to get 14,000+ metres done in one day. Split into some short intervals this morning, then an attempt at 40mins @ 20spm at lunchtime, following by a final 20 mins before dinner.

This all gave me 15,561m in total. I have never rowed that far on one day! Nothing seems to ache at all - even my bum behaved on the longest row and that's usually complaining after half an hour.

As for what's next, I'm still unsure. The 40mins @ 20spm is the "prologue" for RowAlong's 5000m plan. I'm also thinking about his 30 in 30 sessions (albeit with a bit of a break when I'll be away for a few days). May take a look at how he structures those and then decide which way to go.

Yes that's exactly what I thought when I read the blurb Muttley, seems a decent read though not that I've read it all yet. In addition to the plan there's useful info about strength training, recovery, sleep, nutrition, stretching etc. Seems like he was a decent rower he says this plan is based on a plan he developed for himself which took him from 6.25 to 6.15.

Well done Sallykate, smashed your 14k target, be proud of those metres 💪 I'm currently midway through week two of the Rowalong 5k plan and enjoying it so far, nothing faster than 5k pace which is good as it's been a while since I've done intervals. If you decide to do the next session it's 5k pace +1-3 secs, best to start at +3 and build into it 👍

Crikey, SK, well done, I don't think I could cope with that much rowing
Did 2k this morning as a vague start at training for December. I need a blindfold and a click track, I think. That computer messes with my head

Have to admit I was pleased that it got me the top spot for the day - I'm sure that won't happen again for a while...

Going to start 30 in 30 tomorrow. At the end of March I'll decide whether to continue with a decent amount of rowing or rein it in and start running again - it all depends on whether a hip niggle clears up.

After 30 in 30 I'll be able to do a decent 5000m trial to check where I am with that, so I'll have a base for a 5000m plan if I go down the rowing route.

Those 5km time trials are almost worse than the 2kms. The pain has longer to soak in!!

….have one on Sunday ☹️ might be interesting.

Grrr... just had a reasonable 4x(500m/1:00r) session, then clicked the "save and show logbook" on the ErgData app - and it just ignored me. Eventually it showed me the logbook - but without today's session being logged...
Really annoying when that happens.

It's very annoying and it does happen sometimes AndyS. I run ErgIQ on my watch as well to make sure that I've got a backup of sorts whenever ErgData fritzes out. Belt and braces.

Good tip, thanks Nellers.
I just have the standard Garmin "Row Indoors" running on my watch - I think I'll check out ErgIQ!
