Nellers put it far better than I did - I think I meant that it's easier to go further for the same stroke rate at a higher resistance...

Nellers all I know, as a total novice, is that it is a technogym bit of kit. I will check it out in more detail on Thursday. Tomorrow is a swim day.

Ah, then if it's Technogym ignore everything I said! I've got no idea about their rower at all.

Vixx There are some 5km events but they tend to be online rather than in person. I've not seen anything advertised longer than that but Jef might know different.

There used to be the odd 5km events

The last one I remember though was Farnborough back in 2014

The draw back with them … and their death, was they just took too long to get everyone through the competition.

During lockdown there were a few “online regattas” that were put on by various groups around the world at various distances but since the world opened up again most of those have gone again.

I can sympathise re the hot room Sallykate, I prefer to row on the patio but as it was raining I was indoors tonight - came home to find the heating was on! Doors and windows open for half hour sorted that thankfully!

Nellers, no plans to do a 2k but I would like to do BRIC, my son bought me a book for Christmas 'The Vikings Guide To Crushing the 2k' I quite like the look of the plan and it'd be rude not to use it but it's too intense to jump into right now so I'll carry on with 5k training, then probably go longer before sharpening up later in the year 👍

There used to be a small in-person event (1k & 5k) organised by Fitness Matters, but pretty sure it's gone virtual since Covid.
