It annoys me that the PM5 gives only the hr reading on the final stroke. Who needs that? Seems much more sensible to have it record average and max for each rep, surely it has the computing grunt to do that.

You’d think so wouldn’t you, especially as that data is clearly available via the app.

Nice 2k Nellers.

The problem is that the PM only records a data point every stroke, which makes for complicated averaging algorithms. My guess is that since it's always been like that, it's fundamental to the software design and changing it now would be a PITA.

[Incidentally, if you're using intervals.icu it'll give you HR averages per interval for your rowing, so it can be done. I think the guy who runs that site is a bit of a data geek though!]

I've just taken a look at that site. Blimey. I wouldn't know where to start :-)

Passed 16 million metres this morning. That's since summer 2007. The ultimate goal is to hit 20 million by summer 2027 ... Should be doable if I don't get injured.

Oranj: ErgData does HR averages for each split from what it pulls from the PR5 so the data is there. I hadn't thought about the datapoint-per-stroke issue as being a problem but yeah, that's going to complicate things. Probably explains why strava *spit* pace graphs for rowing always come out very sawtooth!
