Morning!
Top man, Jef -- 20 million metres is some going. I'm just over 6 million behind you, having started a year later.
Steady does it, Nellers. Don't do too much too soon, you know what you're like!
Craggy - I've noticed on the new machine that the handle returns to the housing quicker, so that's probably the new bungees. And a slightly heavier overall feel, which could be just that it needs a few workouts to settle, a kind of running in, I guess.
Well, I did the Rowalong 40 minutes push workout this morning. Start at 2k + 25 and speed up by 2 secs every 4 minutes. His advice to not get ahead of yourself during the slower segments holds true. A tough but doable workout, I was fractionally above target throughout.

Jef - no plan for me. I was the same with running. Four children and a busy job meant running on opportunity and feel. Sometimes that meant 200 mile weeks (there was a time when I also ran during weekly Brownies and Guides, so I peaked at 250 miles). I'm quite good at varying sessions though, and intervals mixed with longer steady rate rows match what I used to do when running.
That sounds like a similarly tough session to what I did, Muttley, especially pushing to 2k+7 (or a bit less) for the final 4 minutes. It's always good to have some sort of focus for a longer row.

6 million is too close Muttley ! I’ll get a move on!
I like the sound of both the 40 mins of yours Muttley and yours too Andy. I tend to need a fairly solid plan to stick to though be it running a marathon or rowing .
I’ve had to sack off Brighton Marathon till next year so will look for a proper bit of rowing prep and some targets.

I'm not quite on your tail Jef ... but keep an eye on the rear view mirror just in case
No formal training plan for me either. I tend to loosely follow plans and cherrypick or adapt the workouts that I like, usually alternating them with 10k or so at UT2. I'm currently liking the look of the RowAlong 10k plan. I'm not out to improve the 2k time, more into decent cardio and leg looseners as a supplement to the running.

I can only fit about 4 days worth of rowing a week currently to fit around 4 runs and 4 lots of Wattbike.
A four day ( 2 day, 2 night ) 12 hr pattern also makes things awkward.
I’m thinking 2 x 10km , a hard 5km and an interval session might reap benefits.
I think something will give somewhere though. Really need to retire.

I'm approaching 14 million metres, and I see that for 15 million I can claim a T shirt and pair of rowing shorts. I got the T shirt for 1 million but it was poor quality and shrank the first time I washed it, so I haven't bothered with prizes since. However, I could use the sports bag for 20 million. Better better get to it then!

My 1 million T shirt is just a blue T shirt... nothing remains from the printing it had on it ... bu the quality is good.. albeit frayed around the edges.

These are from back in the day when C2 would give you a glass for rowing a marathon. You could get 1 a year.
