Thanks mate, not much difference in our paces especially as your HR was a cool 113 😂

Funnily enough my plan calls for a "hard 30 min test" this coming week, haven't decided whether to do free rate or r20 yet, I'm finding the higher rates difficult to sustain at the mo.

My HR was a complete mystery! The battery went in my chest strap. It was doing walking pace HR at jogging pace.

At least, I hope it’s just the battery and I’ll not find out until at least Monday now.

Argh. The curse of the purple toe strikes again. I was wearing my cruddy old slip-ons, the ones reserved for the garden, and tripped over one of them as I kicked them off to rush through the house and answer the front doorbell. No idea how, but I mangled my toe, the other one this time, good and proper. It is possible that going for a 7-mile run with Muttley Jnr immediately after was not wise, but it was only tingling and aching then. When we got back -- lovely deep shade of purple but little swelling. Probably a sprain, not a break. I shall attempt a row in a couple of days to see how it is.

Oh no, Muttley! You need to be kinder to your toes. Fingers crossed it’s just a sprain and you’ll be back on form soon.

Hope your toe is recovering well Muttley!

I'm on leave this week and found myself too busy to erg (so much for recharging the batteries) hoping to fit in a session this morning before I have a Cortisone injection in my knee later.

A date for your diaries - 1k TT on 26th Sept - for anyone who wishes to support inspirational erger Dan Lynch who has rowed every day for 960+ days.

Dan is currently receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and despite being in and out of hospital for chemo he has continued to row daily (the Doctors let him take his erg into hospital).
He also happens to be an excellent erger and holds the USA record for 1k (3.08.8) in the LWT 50-59 category.

Dan's words:

"OK, mark your calendars, I’m asking for a favor, but just a small one! On 26 September 2020, my streak will hit 1,000 days. Unfortunately, I’ll be in the hospital for five weeks having a Stem Cell Transplant, but will have my Erg and hope to continue my daily sessions.

I’m going to try to get at least 1,000 people to row a 1,000m TT that day and post their score with the tag #erg1000 . . . USRowing is now following my streak. AND Cameron Buchan has already committed to do the row with a short video!"

👍

Non Hodgkins is a nasty slow-burning cancer. It killed my brother-in-law and took its time doing so. I guess the treatments have improved in the 20 years since then but doing any kind of exercise while undergoing chemo is worthy of respect.

26th September should be very doable for me. Hopefully we can get a few more of us involved, provided we can all avoid breaking toes. ;-)

Knocked out a UT1 session of 2 x 12 minutes @ r20. There should have been a third 12 minute piece but I got ambitious, set off at r22 and realised my mistake about 3 minutes in.

Yes one of my relatives had it, he was in and out of hospital for years.

Nice one Nellers, it's the same day as Devon indoor championships which happens to have the option of 1000m, so if you fancy a virtual competition you could enter that too.
Well done on your UT1 session, still a good session, and I've just seen your massive metres from today, nice work mate 💪

3 x 3333m @ r18 / 90r for me today, a nice session to return to after a few days off.

UT2 session today. 4 x 20 minutes at r18. Progress? Not sure. HR for the pace and rate is coming down a little bit but the pace for the rate isn't yet going up.
