Afternoon, all. Just catching up after a bit of a break from work (and the erg). Hope everyone’s keeping well. Hats off to those who persevered with any form of structured training during the heatwave!

I’m using the Dog Days challenge to get me back into some kind of routine with the rowing and managed my first structured intervals session for a while today. I think the mojo may just be coming back. :-)

Rog, I bought my second-hand rower from Ebay towards the end of 2018 and did quite a bit of research on prices for the different models then. I found that there wasn’t a huge difference between the prices being asked for used Model C and Model D rowers (maybe £100 or so), so decided it was worth going a bit over budget to get a much newer machine with some warranty left. Compared with the prices I saw in 2018, £575 for a Model C sounds quite steep, but I haven’t looked recently (i.e. since lockdown) so can’t comment on whether it’s in line with the prices currently being paid for second-hand Model Cs or how easy it would be to pick up a newer second-hand model.

I haven’t looked recently but at the start of lockdown the prices of 2nd-hand gym equipment went nuts. Meanwhile new stuff was almost impossible to source.

I picked up my 2007 model D for £450 in March 2018 but second hand prices have gone bonkers since lockdown, definitely worth getting on the waiting list for a new one Rog, and if a second hand bargain pops up in the meantime then grab it.

Good to see you back CW, Dog Days challenge will give you good progression during the month!

3 x 4k tonight at rate 18, 18 & 26. Pace of the r18 was 2.3 secs faster than 12 days ago, I'd like to claim that's purely down to fitness gains but I think the cooler weather may have contributed 🤔

On another note, after four years of my gp telling me my knee pain is due to mild arthritis, last weeks MRI scan confirms I have a torn cartilage, so surgery is on the cards, it might be a while though due to a massive backlog.

Frustrating and hopeful in equal measures mate. At least this can be sorted.

Yes hopefully mate, it's a little frustrating to think it could have been sorted in 2016, but then I guess I might not have discovered erging 😊

Every cloud and all that.

It's raining here so I didn't get out on the bike this morning. 4 x 18 minutes at r18 instead, which kept me out of trouble. 16km and some change in the bag.

Well done Nellers that's a good workout, good metres bagged and r18 for that long would test your concentration levels 👍

30 min @ r18 for me today. Predicted finish kept showing around 6980 so I chased the carrot and finished on 7001.

That puts my r18 pace to shame Craggy! Well done mate.

Any plans for a 30r20 test anytime soon? I'm toying with the idea as a UT1 workout in the next couple of weeks.
