45 minutes at r18 (UT2 nominally) this morning which felt surprisingly easy after that ripper last night. Much cooler this morning though.

Urgh, still thick sea mist here. It's like the set of a Hammer horror film. We've got the sticky and clammy heat and twice the humidity. On balance I think I'd prefer the straight warmth of a clear sky. Today is a run day and I'm perspiring just thinking about it.

Anyone know rough prices for 2nd hand C2's? Been offered a model C with PM4, recently serviced and various bits replaced for £575

Hmmm. The Model C stopped being made in 2003 so some of that machine is probably 20 years old. The PM4 stopped being made in 2014 so that is also several years old now.
It depends on what bits have been replaced and who is selling it. If a company specializing in servicing these machines, then maybe. The beauty of them is that just about everything is replaceable. But if some bloke on eBay, then maybe not.
Trouble is, with all this covid nonsense the demand has rocketed and second-hand prices reflect that.
A brand-new Model E with a PM5 monitor would cost £860. They're out of stock at the moment of course. But all that said, it seems a bit pricey for an already aged and obsolete machine.

For comparison, I bought my Model D with PM3 for about £900 new, back in 2007. It was serviced in 2017, to celebrate 10 years. If I were to sell, I'd be delighted with £500 and pleased with £400.

Thanks Muttley - just what I needed to hear. I didn't actually realise they were priced as low as that new. I'd much rather wait and get a new one than rush into a second hand purchase at the price I was offered with all the uncertainty that goes with it. Especially seeing as I still have almost unrestricted access to another to use.

Rog T: If it happens (and it's a pretty big "if" at this stage) the British Rowing Indoor Champs uses about 100 brand new Concept2s and sell them off immediately as the competition ends for a discounted price. That's where I got mine a couple of years back.
You have to be able to physically get to the venue (Lee Valley Velodrome in East London) as the competition ends and take the machine home with you but apart from that you get the same guarantees and after sale care from Concept2 that you'd get with a brand new machine, and it's done less than 20km when you collect it, which is effectively nothing at all.

Thanks Nellers - will keep my eyes and ears open for that. Also, must do more of my own research on these things - but great to have this thread to run things by.
Oh, and I must do more rowing too! 😂

If you can wait for production and availability to resume, and assuming you can afford one, I'd go for a new one.
But do ask around some more, cos I'm just a random bloke on t'Interwebs.
