On intervals it just does the average, so the 6 x 2km was just effectively a flat pace. For the single effort 2km, though, it did the 500m splits from the previous effort individually. |

Cheers, Nellers. That's useful to know. I might try it for TTs if it can cope with rowing negative splits.

Thanks CW, hopefully but my Erg and I are barely on speaking terms at the mo 🤣 Thanks for the heads up Nellers on both the virtual sprints and the re-row pace boat, I've never tried that before. I did play the fish game for the first time at the weekend. Some seriously fast guys in the virtual sprints, fastest in my v40 lightweight cat last year was 3:04 😲 |

Come on Craggy. You and your Erg need to make friends again and fast if you're going to be ready for the 28th March. Those virtual sprint times are scary. The V40 fat boys race was won in 2:42! Christ on a bike that's fast! |

Ye Gods, those guys are getting on for twice the pace I can produce ... there is no hope Anyhoo, a pleasant 60 minutes this morning. Headphones on, brain in neutral, steady as she goes. Just mileage. |

First big proper interval session of the 6 week road to MIRC tonight. 16 x 250m max efforts/ 250m recovery. I tried the old re-row trick and discovered how much top end I've lost since August when I last did this session properly! Kept with the pace boat for about the first 8, all downhill from there. I managed to keep them all at better than 1:45 pace but there was some real slowing down in the last 50m of some of those later pieces. Does anyone listen to the Marathon Talk podcast? About 10 minute in this week Tom Williams mentions that he's just bought a Concept2 and it's sitting behind him as he records the show. He's planning to enter BRIC so I'm hoping we get to hear a bit of his progress towards that goal as the year goes on. |

That session sounds brutal, Nellers. Holding the pace for 8 reps is good, and although you slowed on the last few reps, you completed the session and were only slowing at 200m in, so I reckon you're not as far away from your August form as you thought you were.

I’ve realised looking at the data that I probably let my stroke go to pot and just rated higher. Next week is 8 x 500m and I don’t see me getting away with that so I’d better get my s41t together by then!

Knocked out the threshold session for the week this morning: 4 x 2km with equal time rests. That’s got me to 92km for the week. Back in the Old Country for the weekend again so no more metres until possibly Sunday evening, more likely Monday morning. |

bbc.co.uk A piece on the BBC Sport website today about Phi Doyle, Irish double sculler and World Championship Silver Medallist. Phil has a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRDReK6QesG1uzWRpLrhqgA/featured ) and does occasional Vlogs covering his travels and training. Seems like a nice bloke. |
