Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Been lurking for a few days but 'know' a few names here already (geordiegirl, Shades, Ness). I need to lose a stone (tbh, have needed to for a while!) so this looks like the place to be.

Some quick info for anyone interested ..

I used to run, but my knees put paid to that. These days I go for fast walks. But I've had a few spates of my big toes getting painful and feet swelling up in the last year. A podiatrist diagnosed some calcification of the joints - a blood test at the doctor's showed some mild gout. I'm on medication and am 'managing' the problem. Though this last week, the left foot has been sore again.

Today was my first walk for a week - but a slow amble with my partner rather than anything to get me out of breath. I weigh myself most days, to be able to see the 'trend' (I use the Trendweight website). But my 'official' weigh-in is usually at the weekend and I record my weekly weight on a spreadsheet - and have been doing so since 2002!! :)

@WtnMel sorry to hear your foot had flared up again, must be frustrating when you can't walk as far or often as you like.

That's dedication recording your weekly weight for the last 23 years.

Hi @WtnMel sorry to hear about your foot. Your weight monitoring sounds good. I also check my weight once a week, usually on a Wednesday.

3/4lb off this week which puts me under my target I set. I’d like to lose a little bit more especially off my hips and lower abdomen. I wish you could specify where you want the weight to come off 😂

Well done, Jaks. And know what you mean! I don't want to lose any more weight off my upper body but would quite like to shift a little bit off my moon !

Morning all and welcome Mel nice to hear from you and sorry to hear about your foot. Hope the meds help.

Hope from hospital bandages have been taken off but still special shoe and crutches for another 6 weeks. I should be ok doing a bit more moving around now not that it will help me losing weight.

It’s been hard to weigh as I couldn’t stand well on scales but today suggests I’ve gone up a lb-ish. I can’t worry about it at the moment through.

Well done Jaks, tummy & hips would be my target area too.

I’d avoid the scales GG until you are in a position to do much

I guess lack of running etc has reduced your appetite anyway?
If you want to do something get some resistance bands and do upper body stuff in a chair or chair yoga?
