Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

NordRunner Is the word <<yr>> related to the word, haar, found with variants in Scotland and N England, and meaning a sea fret?

So that’s why it’s called yr :)

A 10miler on a dreadmill for me today.
Pretty comfy and good pace/HR effort.

Not the most inspiring surroundings, but better than torrential downpour and darkness :)

An unexpected run with eL Bee!. Just under an hour, slightly harder than I would have run on my own.

I don't see that directly - the pronunciation is somewhere between Midge Ure and ear. Could be a common ancester in proto-Germanic I suppose. BTW, I've never heard of a sea fret!

Didn't realise that yr wasn't found in Swedish, Bowman 🇸🇪 - do you want to tell us about at sträva :) then?

Good running all.
Got out after the kids had their tea. Just starting to get dark as I finished. Damp but nice enough and another 5k on the comeback trail. Don’t think I passed anyone who wasn’t walking a dog - must be peak time!

Well maybe NordRunner but i don’t think so, sometimes we say what a ”yr”weather. But I think it’s more like snow flying around :)

A nice seven miles. Started using the easy interval method again so today was 1 mile warm up then 5 x 1k with HR 150-169 with 1k easy. Lots of easy of road running. 3rd and 4th intervals were uphill.

Much to read through here about the frequency, origin and etymology of yr. en.wiktionary.org

A piece of learning for me today: the Norwegian Meteorological Service is called Yr.

Another 5K for me this afternoon. Felt quite warm out there after what was a very wet and cold morning. Ran through a flooded path twice so things were a bit squelchy at times :)
