Nice running people! I had a pretty good run today, at least it felt good, even with my erratic HR since my, probably Covid, infection a few weeks ago. Did some fartlek and felt strong, but held it comfortable fast. And it was a lovely autumn day in shorts, but now itโs pouring down outside ![]() |

Reassuring, Bowman ๐ธ๐ช ![]() riggys99 I admire your 360-degree involvement in the show! ![]() 9.30pm Tue. Nagging, fresh breeze from the south made itself known, along with a few light showers, but it was certainly not a cold evening. A 'V' on the beach, split the lakes and trails over the grasslands and by the docks. North, wind assisted and back to start via the prom. 64 min. |

Thanks swittie itโs hard but running teaches you commitment ๐. Todays run 5 miles first couple a bit of off road running to the village to call at the chemist. Then back home through the woodlands got a bit wet on a heavy shower but enjoyed the run. Back and hamstring exercises before bed |

My run today was disconcerting. I went out for my speed set along a route I use fairly frequently (because there is street lighting where many of the roads are unlit). Did my session, all very uneventful, decent pace for my HMP blocks. By now it has gone dark. Returning back home along a fairly quiet and secluded stretch of road and a white car comes past me then immediately slows right down. Being a lone female runner I don't take the risk of engaging with anyone in a scenario like that so I slow my own run pace right down...right to a crawl so I don't fully catch up with the car, which is also slowing down even further. Got real bad vibes at that point so sharply crossed over the road to the side where there are a few houses...the car then did a really immediate aggressive u turn (thought at one point it might actually come at me!) and drove off in the direction it had come from. Urgh. Of course could just have been someone wanting directions but phone maps exist now - why the fuck you would think it's ok to stop a lone female runner in a very quiet and secluded bit of road where the streetlights are poor... Might start running with my dog again when it's dark as there is not much option to run in busier places around here. ๐ฃ |

auburnette Let me say how appalled I am at the conduct of the car driver. You'll most likely not need any 'good ideas' atm - your strategy of heading for habitation was v sensible. However, if you have your 'phone with you, the very act of lifting it to your face in preparation for making a call may be enough to discourage a car driver. I hope you're feeling less anxious - and probably angry too - very soon.
