Good luck Girlie :-)

I've been pretty good about remembering to do all mine this week, even getting up a bit earlier to make sure I have time before work! Saw the physio again on Wednesday, and he put the horrible electric pain machine on me again - which does seem to help although it's a bit nasty at the time. He thinks I probably only need one more session with him and then it's really up to me to build up the strength in the weak areas so I can avoid the same thing happening again. I'm not 'cured' yet by any means - hill session at the club last night left my hamstring/piriformis feeling a bit uncomfortable - but I think I am getting there slowly. I asked him how long I needed to continue doing the exercises for, and he said 'probably much longer than you want to' which I thought was both an honest and an accurate assessment!!

Saw a very nice physio lady at the hospital.

Got to continue with the ones I already have and have some more which are slightly harder.
She asked what my aim was- I said to be running by the end of the year, she seemed fine with that.

It's going to be a long, slow road ahead though, no gym work until I've seen her again at the end of Oct as I need to recover the bend in my knee and to strengthen it more before progressing to the next stage, so looks like Ely NYE is a no go for me:-(

I'm also to keep up with my walks to the shop and to use crutches less when out, I think I can probably dispense with them by the next couple of weeks.

Today, I have started my physio exercises. Let's see if I can do the good lady justice and improve my poor core and weak back.

Little Nemo - slow-but-steady
Bit of a setback for me yesterday as my good knee went. Had to leave my bike at work and had a bit of a limp to get home. Didn't do my physio exercises and now a bit worried that they are making things worse :-( I will do them again today though and see how things go. I've got my next appointment on Tuesday so I can discuss things with her again.

Sorry to hear things are going slowly Girlie but if you are able to start running by the end of the year that's something to look forward to.

Good luck Ted!

Good Luck Ted and LN with your exercises today:-)

I'm increasing my walking with crutches- aiming to be totally unaided by the end of the week as I return to work the following week!

Walked half a mile to Co-op on them in 20 mins:-)
Nearly time for set new of the new exercises. The knee bend ones are most challenging, but the sooner I improve the strength there, the sooner I can move to the next stage.

Boing!

Ended up missing my exercises on Friday/Saturday as knee was too sore. I did restart them on Sunday though and checked in with my physio on Tuesday. Still need to persevere with the same set but she's made a couple of alterations. The problem is that I don't use my glutes enough but my body is being stubborn about stopping the wrong parts of my legs doing all the work. No running for the next 2 weeks until I go back to be reassessed. It's a bit of a 2 steps back type of feeling but I will just have to man up and keep going.

How is everyone else doing, hope you've been conscientious!?! :-)

Of Course LN- I've upped the reps of my exercises to 12 for most exercises with one which is to straighten the knee with a towel under it and hold for 30 secs, I was doing 2 reps now upped to 3.

Last couple of days I've only dones 4 sets over the course of the day, missed the bedtime one as thats when my knee starts to get really heavy and sore, but I have upped the walking, this week using one crutch when going to the shops, fully mobile in the house now, and today I carried the crutch from the end o0f our street home when collecting LMG from school, so hoping to fly completely unaided when I go to get my paper tomorrow. I am still very easy to catch as it hurts if I move too quickly.

I've now got a specific strength program from my physio to be done 4 times a week so need to knuckle down and get it done. Will report back on progress :-)
