Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I will watch with interest as I love the progress the great exponents of this method see - even if I cannot replicate it.

I am going to follow a Jack Daniels approach, but plan to go back to HADD in the future.

Re max HR, I find it hard to get anywhere near what my max is, even in 5ks. Now it could be that my max is lower than I estimate, but I doubt that as it would make some of my racing stats unbelievable. i.e. usually average just under 90% max for a marathon which is already high. If my max is lower than I use, I would be marathoning at 90%+ max which doesnt seem right

I would love too but 1) not sure I can get to 50 anytime soon and 2) Want to have a good crack at the mara in May and think I need more time

I will 100% watch with interest and keep involved. One season I will do this properly!!

Daz - does that mean I've probably made that point before? I'm older and (even) more repetitive than I used to be.

I don't see the debate about it for the faster range of runners - I guess there is a danger at the slower end of things that it might be telling you to slow down to a pace that isn't running anymore. But that's a different problem, with a different rule-of-thumb solution required, I would have thought (since regardless of 5km plus 3m/m, people might find themselves in that boat).

Brunski - yes, I'll be broadly in Hadd mode over the winter, as usual.
