Hadd's Approach To Distance Running

I've just started using Hadd's method for my training. This is it here: counterpartcoaching.com I have been doing it for 2 weeks now. I am trying to increase my mileage from about 40/50 miles per week to 50/60 miles per week. Then hopefully 60 to 70 miles depending on my training time and how much faster I get. I am doing 2 sub lactate runs per week (155-160bpm) and the rest of my running is below 145bpm. I have been going quite a bit slower but feel much better and my legs feel much fresher than what they had been. I was wondering if anyone else is using his method or has tried it in the past and the results you have got with it. |

Ze Mighty Boab is the fetch Hadd champion. And has had good results with it (understatement, lol). Also know that BAW uses it and I it has been working for him |

In a year, 35.xx 10K to 32.xx 77.xx half marathon to 71.xx 2:47 marathon to 2:31 It is base training remember. You will still need to train for target race distances once you are finished base training, but enjoy the reduction in time over all distances in the meantime ![]() |

SPR, Yes it was Boab's results that helped me decide to try it. Dave, I dont think its a tough schedule in terms of the intensity of the running, Im feeling much better than I have in months, although you do have spend a lot more time running . |

this really does make interesting reading. I can relate a lot to it tbh. The last HM i did i ran well for 10 miles then the last 3 were hell. I know i need to really slow it down and just get out there and do some LSR's - i think this is going to be my target going into the winter.

Ian, I was time on feet, rather than mileage. I started off building up to an hour a day, then just started adding on 15 minute to certain runs here and there until I was running something like the following M: 75 mins very easy T: 90 mins sub LT W: 120 mins easy T: 75 mins steady F: 90 mins sub LT S: 60 mins very easy S: up to 180 mins easy to steady It wasn't always like that, that is a typical week during last winter. The week would be adjusted for races and I also introduced some marathon paced sessions as the target marathons approached. I also ran 30-45 mins in the morning monday to Friday. I think my mileage peaked about 120, but that was a consequence of the time I spent running rather than the focus. |

I see the times as a bonus. It just gets you enjoying your running a bit more. I stopped feeling gash during and after every run so I wanted to go out for the next one. Oh, and in a year: 5K 21.51 to 21.00 10K 44.54 to 43.49 1/2 1.41 to 1.39.49 Mara: 3.47 to 3.36 |
