Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've been demoted to Recovery and it's still banging on about sprints.

I’ve had a chest infection so haven’t trained for 10 days but my hrv is in the shitter so I’m still strained, which feels about right.

I am 100% recovered though, which is nice.

Back at the beginning of December last year my fitness age was 55 then jumped to 56, presumably because my 66th birthday was around the corner in the new year. Fair enough I thought.

But just after my birthday at the end of January it went down to 55.5.

After a bout of illness in February - heavy cold and chesty cough - when I took a break from running it climbed to 59 by the end of the month.

Here we are at the end of March and despite another bad cold and hacking cough it's down to 57, and Garmin is telling me "You've reached your target Fitness Age".

Didn't even realise I could set a target....or is Garmin just making up porkies again?

Sigh
Here's my "fitness age" over the past 12 months:

The increase in December is when I got a new set of Garmin scales - having broken the old Garmin scales by dropping them - and it revised my body fat percentage to a (more realistic) higher level. However, in terms of pseudo-science, the revised assessment of 53½ is still 3½ years younger than my actual age, so I'll not argue. :-)

Yes

I think it’s a garmin created number but I’m 52 in a couple of weeks and Garmin says I’m 46.5 which I will take even if it says I can’t get younger!

I do wonder if it will change that as I lose weight?!

@EvilPixie , it tells you the factors which influence your fitness age underneath. On mine, it's body fat rather than weight.

That looks to me as though there's nothing you can do to improve your "fitness age" based on Garmin's selective data. I agree that weight (or even BMI) should also be a factor, though.

I've just noticed that Ness's uses BMI whereas mine & EP's uses body fat instead.

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
According to my Garmin this morning my body battery was at just 41 and I was "strained"
I have been strained for most days in the last 2 weeks
My body battery has also been low

So today it suggested a threshold run of up to an hour!

What's your Garmin say?
