Not sure that does have the single mile autolaps switched on.
You can still see mile splits in the pace or split sections below the map in your log whether you have autolap on or not if that’s what the tab is set to

Definitely you need auto laps turned off for the laps in the description bit to be the precise laps of the workout.

OK, thanks all. I'll try it with auto-laps switched OFF on the watch, as FE will provide that data anyway...

Good reminder there ToR. Would definitely be useful to have the lap splits option via fetch but not sure whether it's even possible. Get your votes in though, lol.

It must be possible, as the way .fit files are constructed each individual "lap" (whether it is a lap created by autolap, or by manual button pressing, or by a workout stage) is a self contained parcel of data. Garmin connect holds the data in that way and I think sites like Runalyze natively process things using those laps.

Fetch is unusual in using that text box summary of the activity but not using that same data to populate the pacing table. Pros and cons to that, I would definitely prefer the pacing table to be able to be shown with the lap splits data in there as well as a plain old mile splits (or whatever is chosen). But having the text box has value too allowing for commentary under the various splits. e.g. when I've done Eryri marathon I've not used autolap, I've used manual laps at only a few places in the course, so the text summary replicates that quite nicely and if I want I can comment under each lap for my own records. But the pacing table only ever shows the even splits that are available in the drop down. Would be nice in that drop down to have "laps as recorded".

It might be a big change to the way that data is organised in the fetch tables though, so might be technically challenging?

It's always "possible" larkim; the question is how practical it is. But we know Fetch loves a technical challenge ;-)

I'm more interested in that Fitz says the Connect website can show the workout "blocks" while on the app it just shows the auto-lap splits. That suggests that the FIT file (as that is all that comes from the modern watches I beleive?) contains both sets of metadata. Which also suggests that you should be able to leave auto-lap on during workouts, which I never thougth had been the case in the past if you wanted the workout "blocks".

I might have do a planned workout jus to see what it does stick in the fit file. :-o

Autolaps within a longer workout segment were there at least in March last year. I set up tempo runs as WU / tempo (until lap button pressed) / CD and the tempo session in the middle has autolaps of 1m within it on Garmin connect.

Going to agree with larkim and throw in a bit more detail.

The way it displays in the app has been tweaked multiple times over the last few years (occasionally breaking completely). The laps are definitely tagged as warmup/run/rest/cooldown for programmed interval sessions - if you look in Edit Activity - Show More Data - Edit Intervals, those labels are there and they are editable. I have a vague recollection of finding a field in the lap header that holds that info, will check.
As in the image below, I see sections longer than an autolap as one section expandable to the autolaps within - for my use cases this is generally only warmup and cooldown as I don't usually do speed sections of 1km or more.
The particularly intriguing thing about this screencap is that, although it displays the same way as a planned session, actually it was entirely unplanned fartleks where I decided to throw in a couple of fast sections, using the lap button to record them. In the Android app, it shows warmup/run/rest/cooldown even though the laps are all tagged as Run. In the ios app on my ipad, the Laps tab is titled Intervals not Laps, but it shows them all as Run. Either way, the app is handling variable length variable pace laps algorithmically & not just based on data from planned workouts.

Follow up - I edited the lap types in the Android app; that shows exactly the same as it did before, the iOS app shows the edited classifications as they're both syncing the data with Garmin's database.

Yes, I've noticed that you can just do a session with lap press and the app recognises it now. I've not checked whether the watch recognises it on device when you review there.

I usually use open repeats for track but I've forgotten a couple of times
