Good job watches haven't been shown to influence performance (yet?) as he signed for a Chinese shoe brand before London apparently but still ran in Nikes, lol.

Last time I had the GPS problem it looked like the GPE.bin file was corrupted, this time it was missing. Deleting and re-syncing has recreated it but hoping it lasts longer than the 6 days it lasted this time.

I didn't wait around for the watch to get GPS today once I realised there was an issue which is good as based on my run trace, it took about 10 mins after I started running. It still did a good job of getting the distance right for that section (about 1.25 miles) which is impressive.

I know this is an old chestnut but my 245 is suddenly not charging. I've cleaned the contacts, switched it off and on a couple of times, plugged it into the computer but nothing seems to get it to work.

I guess it's maybe 3 years old now and has worked perfectly until now. Any ideas will be gratefully appreciated.

No personal experience of a 245 ar, but have you tried a hard reset? Or forces reboot?
(hold the light button for 15-20 secs?)

If so and no joy, a new cable* or even try a wireless charger*? (the web says the 245 can be charged wirelessly

*probably the Amazon versions, reather than oure garmin

Or even call / chat to Garmin Support, 've always found them very helpful, and chances are they're local (UK HQ is Totton/Marchwood)

57.5 Days of Pain
My aftermarket cable has failed to charge my 245 for a while but the Garmin one still works most of the time with some periodic cleaning. Hoping not to end up in Alpenrose's situation.

The charging cable connections are not good. An aftermarket charging "dock" ( check amazon, ebay, etc ) seems much better for me.

I agree, but even they get wobbly after a while (but work better even then).
