That's awesome. I've had good experiences with them when I helped my dad sorting out some issues with this power pedals and Garmin Express. They sent him a replacement without any fuss when it was clear that the left pedal was faulty. For Garmin express, he got a patch that sorted out the problem.

Just run my fastest parkrun this year and Garmin says my training is unproductive. Hmmph.

Sigh
Most of my PB's were unproductive according to Garmin.

Running flat out to get a pb is not always the right thing to do for a calculation based on long-term load and VO2 max. Sometimes there are other goals.

The unproductive will be BS after a 5k PB as it means fitness is decreasing, a 5k should also be the type of race that works for Garmin's preferred fitness measure (VO2 Max) and your training would have to have quite a bit of high intensity for a 5k PB to reduce VO2 Max I think. Of course there could be data quality issues (eg dodgy HR data).

The new Garmin race predictor has always been out for me. I believe it's a simple calculation of this VO2 Max with this much training = this pace with reading other factors.

It wasn't a 5K PB; just my fastest 5K this year!

Today I ran 10 miles at a faster pace (approx 30s/mile) than the 10 mile race I did 4 weeks ago and now it says my training is maintaining. Don't understand Garmin's algorithm at all.

"Unproductive" isn't an assessment of the activity, but your overall training. If you overall load has been high, with to much high-intensity stuff, your HRV is too low or rapidly declining, etc it will class it as unproductive as it isn't beneficial for the long-term.

Of course, it doesn't know what your specific goals are, so it's just fitting it into a statistical norm.
