Move didn't last a month on my watch. I have no time for dumb ’smart' features.

Yes but people record running on a treadmill indoors don’t they and possibly indoor cycling, I was just wondering if there was anything that might work better, but maybe next week I’ll walk a lap and see how far it is. It is undercover but not indoors so it recorded 7km last night but I think that distance is short bearing in mind I did 4km on the seafront in 37 minutes last week!

They do, yes, but treadmill running uses the accelerometer in the watch to estimate how fast you're running, and I doubt Garmin have a calibration for roller skating - I would think that's very hard to do without a huge amount of data, because they have to use the arm motion to estimate how hard each push accelerates you, how fast you're rolling, how much you're slowing down with friction. Indoor cycling one way or another uses sensors on the bike showing how fast the back wheel is turning, or equivalent. Couldn't even do that on a skate because you don't know what's happening when that skate is off the ground.
Undercover could still be enough to mess up the GPS reception, depending how thick the cover is. Might be worth doing just one lap and checking what the track looks like and if the watch distance is sensible.

Given performance doesn't matter (I presume) in the rollerskating scenario, why not just record as a cardio activity and record duration and HR only?

Larkin I’d like to roller skate a marathon so distance whilst roller skating is important!

Aha, that makes sense!

As Badger says, treadmill runs use arm swinging to get the distance and it's calibrated to running so won't work for roller skating. You'll have to do your marathon outside!

It's also worth noting that (IME) treadmill runs can be wildly inaccurate. A footpod helps, but it's still very much a lottery.

This worked for me to get the filter bottoms back (I changed 1LM warmup lap to "other".
Quote below is from Garmin Support
---------------------- Our team is investigating why this occurring and working to resolve this.
Some customers have had success with this temporary workaround: from the activity, select the three dots in the upper right, then Edit Activity. From there, scroll down, click Show More Data> Edit Intervals> edit one of the steps (I.e. from rest to recovery), and save changes.
This will bring back the ability to filter them. However, if you change that step back to the original type, the filter will go away again.

Sigh
Garmin's down at the moment. Hopefully they just need a hug.
