I cleared a load of stuff out of my office last week and it feels so much better to be in there now…

Well done Cath:) I have sold 20 items on Vinted now. A few more listed, but I’ve found it quite fun. |

My feet have been giving me problems lately and the right one is currently tender underneath. So while not being able to put any weight on my foot and do anything 'normal' (cutting lawns etc.) I spent yesterday afternoon de-cluttering my shirts. I had quite a few from when I was working and hardly ever wear them these days. I managed to throw out around half (8 or 9) that are destined for the clothes recycling bins. One of them I bought from BHS - how many years ago did they close down?

My Aged Parents have suddenly decided they can start decluttering. They give me stuff to take away so they can't change their minds, but I have nowhere to put it! 2 boxes of china I need to unwrap, photograph & show to the local vintage shop!

Not exactly a setback but my partner Margaret looked through the shirts I had selected to throw out and said one or two were 'posh' ones that were a bit too good to discard. She thought I'd been a bit TOO ruthless and they would probably fit okay if I manage to lose a few more lbs. So I've retrieved them and they're now in the bottom of the wardrobe. @Lizzie W - your parents may have been watching the same series I've been recording and watching on the 'U&W' channel (Ch 25) called "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning". It may sound a bit morbid but it's about clearing your clutter so that relatives don't have to do it after you die. |

If it doesn’t have holes in it then there is no need to replace!

@WtnMel I've been watching that too. It seems that every house in Kansas City has a massive basement where other people's stuff goes to die. I love the presenters, especially Ella: Q. What happens if I throw something out and then a few months later I need it? A. (from Ella) Shit happens. Most of the stuff they have stored they weren't even aware of, as they hadn't seen it for years. It's only useful if you know you have it in the first place! Can you tell I live with a hoarder?! |

@Little Nemo - I still have a silk shirt I got from C&A many years ago (remember them?) that I won't discard because its still fine (no damage), it still fits - and it satisfies my inner peacock! @Kittenheels Kath - the alternative answer is . "You've not needed it for years, but just buy it again if you think you need to". Not in the same league thank goodness, but I sometimes stumble across things I'd forgotten about. Alternatively, I sometimes look for something I know I still have, but have to wade through c**p to find it. |
