Nice find @WtnMel why didn't you just sign the TCs and pay them in as well?

@Lizzie W - we do have some gift cards but they're pinned to the notice board in the study and I'm keeping a beady eye on the expiry dates. There's a John Lewis one for £50 expiring on 6th Jan (and I have to confess, I can't remember now, who or where it came from!). And there are a couple of other M&S gift cards (£60 in total - xmas presents), but they don't expire until the end of 2025/2026 respectively. @alpenrose - I thought I would need to sign the TC's and pay them in to the bank, but discovered they could be refunded via the Amex website. I submitted the request, it's been approved, so am just waiting for the money to turn up in my bank account. |

@Lizzie W - Mr WM reminded me the £50 John Lewis voucher I mentioned above was a present from a charity we both did work for (Mrs WM - admin; me - some IT support). And the money from my refunded Amex traveller's cheques has turned up in my account. @Night-owl - I STILL haven't got round to donating my surplus books. I have around a dozen I've read and won't again (mostly for a book group I used to belong to). It's a toss-up between a local charity shop or the NT second-hand bookshop, so I think I'll donate half of them to each one! |

I thought you might all appreciate a quick update on Mr W's latest attempt to finish me off. He went to the local agricultural show, and as he was leaving, spotted a metal rod on the grass. It looks very much like the kind of metal rod you would use to secure guy ropes from a big marquee, of which there were several of course. Readers, he brought it home, there was no-one around to give it to apparently. My enquiries as to its usefulness remain unanswered, so it sits, goading me, next to the orchids on the dining room windowsill.

@Winniefree - sorry, but I laughed out loud at that ^^^ It reminded me of an episode of Rab C Nesbitt, when he arrived home with an exhaust that had fallen off a car, claiming it might come in useful Maybe you can move said metal rod and see if Mr W notices .. then quietly move it to the recycling bin. Or save it and give it him for xmas
