Fine with the proposed changes, even though it means in my division (11) there's nothing to play for (4 out of 5 go up, and Pothunter has ducked out!)
I do think it would be better in the longer term to go to a less linear system, so reduce the problem where a new, good player takes a year to get to their correct division.
I think having the lower leagues be in A and B variants, each feeding up and down would be good. I'll try and write something up later...

JCB and myself just played to a marathon 50 move draw. It was a queen and pawn vs queen ending (which can be but aren't always quite drawish). Ignore the fact that Qg4 on move 59, should have won the game, but it lead to the intriguing question - just how do you force a win. So open ended question is could JCB have forced a win? The analysis afterwards suggest a blunder where he missed a mate in 38 ?! Here is the closing position.
So avoiding blunders by me as white, what was the best strategy here for JCB? My feeling for me was to keep the king as far away from the pawn as possible (as I couldn't get in front of it.)
I think JCB could have caused me the most problems getting his King beside/ in front of his pawn, because at one point it wasn't possible for me to keep up the perpetual check. And if the pawn is moved once, the 50 move clock gets reset, but more importantly, the same trick can be repeated.
Any thoughts anyone?

Roberton's pyramid idea made flesh: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D, 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D. Where a layer is half the size of the one below, two players are relegated (1 going to each of the split divisions below). If the numbers of divisions doesn't work then the exactly point from moving from 1 to 2 to 4 divisions per layer can be shifted as desired.
I've been casually thinking how to avoid a hard reset on the basis that everyone with a higher chess.com rating should be placed higher (something I personally don't like as I've put some effort into getting promotions thus far). Two alternatives that I don't think are as good as Roberton's:
Consistently doubling promotion and relegation. Does increase flow of players, but the number of months from bottom to top isn't reduced.
Using a system from rowing (i.e., over-bumps) where you jump two divisions if you beat everyone in your division. This doesn't have a clear way to deal with the doubly-relegated player.
Roberton's idea just works, in my opinion.

A rejig of the league is needed and I have no objection to what Fetch has suggested.
From my own personal situation I joined in Div 12 played and enjoyed it winning some and loosing some. However I was relgated at end of month as the highest rank person I drew with. Little did i realise it was a trap door and Div 13 was harder than then 12. I have lost 7 games back to back which is demoralising. So was looking to drop to Div 14.
So i would also support a reset or something to group similar scoring players to gether.

Chrisull the King & pawn ending was winning for Black. The plan at move 47 should be to promote one of the King side pawns. Anything White does on the Queen side is too slow and can be ignored.

I’ve asked to be moved into the bottom division to avoid months of back to back relegation and little hope of winning a game.
