Brilliant 3 nights at Clachtoll Beach Campsite. What a stunning area. The campsite is great.

They provide facilities free of charge that I've never seen a campsite give before. Kettles and microwaves available to use, very large fire pit in a communal area with free wood, wetsuits/SUPs/canoes to take to the beach, herbs growing fresh, dog treats/poo bags/balls, outdoor showers, dog shower, shampoo and shower gel in the showers, washing up liquid/sponges/ brushes, games/dvds/books to borrow...

Only downside is the place is always fully booked. We booked in February and had to choose between electric hook up or the dates we actually preferred. Chose to book non-electric, and thought the van would be fine as it's only the fridge we're using. Unfortunately not, so need to look at a solar panel with upgraded battery package. Got another 3 nights planned next week with no EHU so will struggle again.

Silent campsite at night time. Had a treat of folk music every night around the firepit, as some musicians own statics here. Heading to Skye next, but would rather stay here as loads still to see.

Had a weekend at a very small reggae festival near Swanage. Bonus of Dorset coastal path walks in the mornings. Would definitely consider going again.
Tomorrow we're off to Glastonbury for a concert at the Abbey (birthday outing for me). It looks at though it's quite easy to get to Street parkrun by bus too.

We loved Clachtoll. That area is just amazing. I bloomin’ love the North West Highlands.

Can I ask a question?

I was up in the national park a few miles away from me for a walk. When I got back to the car, a camper van (california size) parked next to me had this white plastic bag presumably full of rubbish was behind their rear wheel.

It looked to me that their intention was to drive off and leave the bag there so I helpfully knocked on the window and let the person in the passenger seat the bag was there.

It isn’t a carpark you can stay in overnight and there aren’t any bins in the car park. I did wonder if it had a nappy or dog mess in, so you might not want the smell inside your vehicle if you can help it, but either way the rubbish should be taken home. But still it seems all too easy to forget it is there when you drive off. Hopefully these people didn’t.

Anyway just wondering if this is a “thing” or whether camper vans tend to have a bin inside.

This isn’t a “thing”. It might be as you suggest that it’s smelly rubbish that was not wanted inside the vehicle.

(BTW that vehicle is neither taxed or MOT’d. I only checked the reg to find what sort of camper it was).

I prefer not to have smelly rubbish in the van, but also don't want foxes, rats etc shredding bags, so sometimes hang the bag from the wing mirror or put it inside a covered box in the back of the van.
