Very soon I will be celebrating 8 years ownership of my van, I drove it off the forecourt at Benfield in Newcastle in April 2014 - seems like an eternity ago! It's just starting to cost me real money in terms of upkeep. New exhaust fitted yesterday + service, I am also going to have to get the cam belt/water pump replaced this year (time, not mileage). The kicker is that I think the leisure batteries (there are two in a California) need to be replaced too, they are losing charge very quickly - that will be expensive, although of course I will fit them myself. All that said, looking at current prices I think I could expect to sell it for around 10K less than I bought it - not bad depreciation really. |

Hi Daz Love! You need to look at as many as you can. We recently traded in our old N reg T4 conversion! She was a lovely workhorse for 2 years but we needed a bit more room and we now have a small motor home!

Still haven’t made a decision, torn between finding smallest motorhome or a new lwb Transit camper. Pros and cons for each and prices gone up to more than I was hoping to pay. For what it is worth, we have a lwb Transit, with a pop top. Partner and I are both tall, and we have quite a large dog, but it fits us well. Obviously no shower so although we can go a night or so without shower facilities, we are tied to sites with facilities in some respects, but we thought long and hard about this, and this suits us. With the back seats up, the boot us large enough for our dog, and with it folded down as a bed, he can fit under the foot of the bed with no problem. We are happy with ours. My previous experience was many years ago in a Pug Boxer conversion, and of course this is far better in terms of comfort! We have used it a lot over the winter for days out etc. |

I am sorry - I misread the above and even when I wrote the name of our van, I still didn't twig! Ours is a Trafic, not a Transit! So basically ignore my previous post ![]() |

Getting a bit frustrated with my search, the old romahome sized motorhomes https://www.signaturemotorhomes.co.uk/motorhome-stock/details/romahome-r30-WX10HJG. Don’t seem to exist any more. Modern vans seem to be just too small or too big. There’s very little used for sale anywhere and new prices are going up daily and everything has a year lead time. Wish I had the skills to do a self conversion |
