Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Both of those posts sum up my mother's entire attitude to life :-(

I like to think I take after my dad in easy-going-ness but I suspect mh children might beg to differ. And OH, come to that:-)

Some people have a tendency to be contrary, and I think that aspects of one's personality intensify in old age.

If she is dehydrated that could be affecting her presentation Daisy. Is there any chance she's limiting her fluids to avoid 'accidents'?

Oh yes I'm certain that's a factor LMH. Even though I've explained time and again how Tena pads and pants work (and she often wears both at the same time!)

Anyway, some good-ish news: the 'clock' I've bought her, which has a display saying 'Now it's Friday morning' (afternoon, evening, night) seems to be helping her. Staff report that though she came down seeking a cup of tea in the middle of the night, she knew it was night-time and settled back to sleep again after her cuppa.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
