Snail
4 weeks ago, took dad to A&E with what turned out to be a fractured hip. Good today to be able to collect him from hospital together with Zimmer type support, so he can get back to living at home. Although not sure that we will be able to make as much apple crumble as he seems to have been eating in hospital! Unfortunately my sister on her final visit to him yesterday was walking back afterwards and got hit by a van. So she is now in hospital, in reasonable spirits but with a number of internal fractures. So more worry and another round of hospital visits

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
