Thanks LMH, it is a nasty shock for her, and she didn't end up staying in the town she wanted to.

Today wasn't a good day for her apparently, especially when she found out hubby had disposed of her china!!! He did ask her if she wanted anything to keep, only she was in the bad mood from not going into the home in her town, so she didn't want anything, so we took her at her word! When she found out we had disposed of everything, she seemingly had a snit fit, saying that one of friends might have wanted to have a china cup and saucer...though the odds of finding it in the huge assortment of china cups might have been very small!! Then again, the odds of her friend wanting things might be minimal anyways.

LMH - I find that hard to believe also, but thats what we were told by at least three different nurses. We have made the nurses aware and left a letter for the doctor. I havent heard yet if Mrs A has been contacted.

Outcome is one of the two medications being resumed in liquid form, the other they will do their best to give in tablet form. Best outcome I guess, I just wish they hadn’t made this call without thinking through implications or asking. It does take time for the equilibrium to be achieved though so still a week or so I would guess before we are back on an even keel.

On a sadder side, our sons fiancées grandmother passed away this morning less than 36 hours after going to hospital.

Glad the situation is resolved Baz. Sad news about the other grandmother.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
