STOOSH
Was good to spectate the full for a change...situated around 9.5m you may have had a random shout if your name was on your top or wearing fetchie gear!! Was good to see the elites finishing and the 2 guys at the front had a 100m sprint finish which was great to watch. Ross Houston of central ac was first scot home in 5th place(and brit i'm guessing) in around 2.21. Did the half myself but didn't run well so the pub was the best place for me yesterday afternoon:) Congrads to everyone running the marathon in what was a pretty warm day!! |

Finished it in 4:03:36. I had hoped to go sub-four, but in those conditions I was very happy with that. I had to walk some cramp off at miles 20 & 24, & probably would have done it if not for that. Got my first marathon under my belt so I'm well chuffed. Good to meet some fetchies for the pre-race photo. I presume they'll be going up soon, Mcnewbie? I popped in past work on the way home this morning, everyone had a good chuckle at the phallic medal. |

Well, I survived. It was hot but not as hot as two years ago and I was still slower so I am pretty disappointed with that. Apart from my performance, the day (and weekend) was great. Was through with my family, my sister and bil both pb'd and they, my other half and my parents all had a blast of a weekend. Not sure that marathon is my distance.

the 19 degrees -official temperature - is in the shade and not on top of a black tarmac road. The temperature you experience will be much higher.

Love the pics Ian, can I steel them? It was definitely hotter than 19 degrees. Especially around 1-2ish. |

no way was it only 19 degrees - I agree with SpeedyMel at 1ish I reckon it was in the twenties. Particularly running around Gosford House. It was boiling in there.

That was my first, last and only marathon and so pleased I chose to do it at Edinburgh! Fantastic crowd support and a friendly bunch of runners to chat to along the route. The hose pipe people saved my life! Was beating myself up for falling apart through the grounds of the house at 18 mile, but looking at other peoples posts it seems to have happened to the best of people. Disappointed with my time of 5.06 but the fact that I can hardly walk today means I know I gave my all. A few more water stations along the course would have been appreciated but other than that I couldn't fault it. Never again though!!!

Steph I bet you have your next one booked by the end of the week!! And that's a great time for your first, especially considering the conditions.
