Did the Team Relay, so I only ran 7.6 miles from Port Seton. Very tough in the heat (i have no idea how the full marathoners coped), and our two teams that were racing each other ended with 2:55 and 2:56 which gave us 2nd and 3rd teams overall. Brilliant atmosphere, bit disappointed there were no mats on the changeovers though. Also the woman running the leg before me, wasnt directed in to the changeover but otherwise, a fantastic race with great organisation. The presentation was also done very early, and the ones of us who ran leg 2 and 3 werent back in time for it.

Great day out yesterday, the organisers really stepped up this year and all the previous organisational problems disappeared.

I ran strongly until 17 miles and then had to slow down as I couldn't stay cool no matter how much water I drank. The bit around Gosford House was just a dead zone with baking temperatures and no shade or breeze.

I came home in 4:24, 6 minutes slower than last year but happy to have made it around in one piece.

I had a lovely meal out with the Fetch crew on Saturday night and a meal out with my club last night so all in all a very good weekend :-)

Well done to everyone who took part in or spectated at any of the EMF events. I had a very quiet Half Marathon race achieving my target of beating my Rock`n`Roll half marathon time from a few weeks before. Cool for the 8am start but temperature started rising quickly with the sun breaking through around 9am and getting hot around 9 miles in. Organisation, esp finishing area and baggage reclaim was excellent as far as I experienced. On the bus into town I was really thinking of all the marathon runners heading East into that heat. Well done all :-)

yesterday is the busiest day in Musselburgh's year, so Lothian Buses decide not to run any buses into Musselburgh leaving the town deserted and runners stranded.

oh dear joe - no sun cream ? Its a necessity for Edinburgh Marathon

Andy, that was a bizarre decision by LRT, but given last years congestion you can understand why.....I was lucky in that my family came down to see me and I got a lift home.

The edinburgh evening news reports:

And fortunately for those taking part, a temperature of 19C proved just right for running conditions.

Presumably not written by someone with any idea of how hard it is to run in the heat

Aye, that was not only 19C yesterday.

I had a great day out. Managed not to get sucked into racing it, and just used it a long run with the last 10+ miles run steady. Well done to those running it hard all the way, that would have been tough!
