Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

'Better pitches' is not always possible, when it slashes down for the whole of June in England for example. Nothing Groundsmen could do, hardly any sun and endless bloody rain.

I have an idea for a form of cricket that I think would be hugely entertaining. One day, two innings games, limited to 100 overs, but with no limit to each innings. So tactics like declarations and following on come into play (the follow on target in a one day game is 75 runs behind). You could rig the points system to encourage teams to go for a result. Maybe 20 points for a win, nothing for a draw, and up to 10 bonus points available for the losing team.

It's basically a cross between a Twenty20 and a Test match, and doesn't require rewriting the rules of cricket as with the Hundred.

Exactly, WS.

What’s Ridiculous, DT? If you mean the Hundred, then I completely agree. It must be stopped.

I just checked. The Cheshire league is 45 overs...maximum overs for obe bowler is 15...if you get bowled out in less than 45 overs...the remaining overs go to the side batting second!

That's fairly common I think - that's how we used to play it.
