I’ve been on a call at work today we are looking at introducing a system that will give users a device to wear they beeps if another comes into the safe distance space. While I am assessing the risk to privacy and ensuring it won’t be used outside the parameters, it is a pretty cool way to ensure people are keeping a safe distance.

As a family we kind of focus on and work towards a summer holiday so it’s a big thing for us. That said I think we are all agreed we don’t want to go abroad any time soon. We just need to hope we can get the money back and then maybe spend it locally

weekend briefings to stop not sure we will miss much the briefings have been useless lately especially as the same questions are asked by different people and on multiple days!

Happy G, I had wished to imply that the ‘perhaps?!’ was very well justified. I think that most sensible scientists are still puzzling over several aspects of this epidemic. Advice from scientists should always be provisional. Nonetheless scientists can give estimates of probabilities and it is up to governments to make decisions based on the probabilities, taking into account a multiplicity of factors that are beyond the expertise of individual scientists.
With regard to travel, my own view, based largely on observing the way the pandemic has unfolded across the world, is that travel restrictions, both within and between countries, are as important as testing and tracing. However, there are very strong reasons why travel restrictions should be loosened in the coming months. My own view is that loosening of travel restrictions should be combined with testing before travel and again 5 days after travel; effective tracing of contacts of travellers; and some restrictions on what travellers can do for 14 days after travel. This would require effective organization by government and self-discipline by individuals.

Kind of apparently it beeps if you’re within 2m and also 1m then again if the pre set time has lapsed and you’re still within distance.
Aim is to help people to keep a safe distance, giving confidence they’re safe and the business can identify areas that are tricker to manage safe distancing so they can address them.

Bazoaxe - I believe all travel insurers invoked a clause back in March that meant that after a certain date in March they would not cover COVID related claims.

Regarding the BCG theory. The approach in this country for quite some time now has been to target certain more vulnerable groups for this vaccine (neither of my adult children was offered it). For me this makes the theory seem at odds with the effect of COVID within the BAME population.
