I know I didnt see the issue with the App & data privacy that others saw, however what does worry me would be the self isolation implications of such a policy.

I am in a house of 4 with a 22 and 24 year old and its inevitable that between the 4 of us we would come into contact with people and the whole household is in lockdown. Arguably my wife and I could live without much interaction outside our family, but that wouldnt be the case with my children.

So while in theory the test, trace and isolate approach would help to manage the spread, the practical application of it would be very difficult.

On the rules, I suspect many people have in some shape or other. I know we have a little with a need to deliver food to my housebound Mother in law who then wants us to hang about for a variety of reasons - most just for family social contact that her carers dont provide.

Also my strimmer broke down and my dad has a rarely used one he offered me. The plan was we would drive there (8 miles) and pick it up from their driveway. On arrival there was no strimmer on the driveway and my Mum was there inviting us through their garage and into the back garden where she had set up socially distanced chairs and provided a coffee. I know we should have said no, but that was difficult. I guess I should have just said I can live without cutting the edges of my lawn for the time being.

My sister called us on her way home from a walk along the coast and suggested she speak to us from the road. I couldn't see any difference between her parking her bum on the grass in our garden and chatting privately vs doing so over the front hedge so we did just that. A rules breach certainly, but with a sum total of zero additional risk. I think most of us are sensible enough to able to construct such safe scenarios.

I just got told off in tesco for taking a few paces backwards in an empty aisle in Tesco when i couldn't see what i was looking for as it was one way. It would have meant i was moving further from the person who told me off and in no way near to anyone else.
And yesterday a person stepped aside for me on a footpath, I smiled and she told me off for not actually saying thank you.

I can happily live without people like that. I know its my problem that i don't cope well with criticism but that did seem unnecessary

I have met up with a friend for social distanced walk and a SD run with my mam last weekend. I have seen my cousin from the end of her long drive while she’s been on her doorstep. None have been any risk. I could quite easily provide a list of everyone I’ve been in contact with since I came home from Oz. I go to Tesco once a week and I’ve been to Aldi twice and the local post office twice. My husband is the same. We walk or I run everyday

I’ve not been close close to anyone other than husband but in eyes of guidance by seeing & stopping for a chat while on a walk/run or seeing parent a when dropping off their shopping then yes I have probably bent the rules but safely.

My cousins have both separately met their mam for a social distanced chat choosing her over dad... dad rushed I to hospital yesterday for emergency MRI to investigate a lump and today he’s had surgery for removal and biopsy. The guilt they didn’t see dad is real.

DocM the person who stepped aside had probably been doing it for others without getting any acknowledgment before reaching you and just felt a tad frustrated. Passing several people each day on my run who show no sign of giving space or looking at what is heading towards them leaving me to move aside and go into the road to allow them to remain on the path a little mutual greeting and thanks go a long way at the moment.

If they don’t show signs of moving now, neither do I, it’s amusing to see who blinks first. I suspect that many people accept that 2m isn’t completely set in stone at least outdoors.

I had to slow down my walking pace on the weekend to keep my distance from two slower walkers and then I swallowed a fly and ended up having a coughing fit!!!

They apologised for holding me up and thought it was my way of saying get out the way lol - and there was me trying to suppress the cough so that they didn’t think I had C19. Anyway it made for an interesting couple of minutes and we all had a little much needed chuckle.

I swallowed a fly one day and it caused me to cough for quite a while which did get me some odd looks from people. Fortunately that happened when I had loads of room and could steer well clear of people, even though I knew the cause of the cough was not COVID

My resilience is low too Doc and those kinds of things would have upset me. I keep repeating 'don't judge, be kind' to myself when people are stressing me out like that.
