What’s the sensible and responsible thinking about testing and releasing these days? Official guidance is to isolate for 5 days, but you may be infectious for up to 10.
In NL the rule is isolate for 5 days, and until you have been symptom free for 24 hours. We are currently in the US and 2 days after arriving Raemond came down with COVID, the rules here are isolate for 5 days, and at least 24 hours without fever (which she never had) and all other symptoms improving.
Generally seems to be the thought that after 5 days of you aren't showing much in the way of symptoms you should not be contagious but keep wearing a mask / hand washing etc.

Thanks Sam. I hope Rae is able to enjoy the rest of your trip.
So far, my symptoms are pretty mild, so I hope I’ll have shifted them after 5 days.

I'm encouraged that I'm less 'cold-y' today than I was yesterday so by day 6 I can be freeeeee

What does 'symptom-free' mean though? By all accounts the unpleasant cough might go on for days or weeks (or in poor Hanneke's case, months) so do you have to remain in purdah until that's gone?

Interestingly, the main symptom I had was a hacking cough - which seems to be being really eased by the antivirals (although yesterday especially I felt very sleepy/drowsy so spent most of it in bed).

My main and apart from a sitting headache for a few days, only symptom was the cough... I still sometimes re-appears and I never really was prone to developing coughs/upper respiratory tract issues. When I get a cold/flu it goes to my sinusses... And larynx.

I think that's why the CDC say no fever, as that's easier to measure and monitor.

LD, I think if you feel okay you can get out and about but remember it can come back and bite you in bum months later if you go for it too soon.

LG - Thanks for that reminder! I need to remember to be sensible especially as was just trying to build up slowly after starting medication after a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis

Thanks LG I'm going to follow that BMJ infographic and do nothing more than walking until day 10, then very gradually restart running.
