I believe there has been a new variant identified (another variety of omicron I believe) though we will likely always have new variants turning up.

The guidance has been updated in our hospital following changes in guidance nationally. Masks are no longer mandatory in staff areas, public areas and lower risk clinical areas. Still needed in specific high risk areas. Also if any patient requests staff to wear a mask or if there has been a local outbreak.

It was interesting to read the guidance and rationale about length of isolation on wards - 10 days for non immune suppressed patients as very unlikely to be infectious after that. But longer for people with immune suppression who would take longer to throw off the infection.

It’s been strange walking around without a mask!

We are still mask wearing in my Trust Pen though we have moved to 1m plus rather than 2m distancing.

I was surprised - it came about quite quickly I.e. yesterday.

Areas we still have to wear masks include ICCU, transplant, renal, cancer wards, respiratory etc. With individual risk assessments elsewhere when required.

I do go on ICCU, transplant, renal and several cardiothoracic wards so will still wear mask in appropriate areas.

We’ll have to see how it goes. It is quite an adjustment and of course we can wear masks if we want.

My home GP surgery sent out a text today saying masks not mandatory unless respiratory illness or high temperature. My work one hasn't done this yet: we're still so short-staffed I think we might carry on with them.

Faint T on my test

Not great timing, I’ve got removals men coming to quote early next week. Also go on holiday in 8 days time.

Looks like both of those are out as options
