Sorry to hear that Hann. It's a good reminder that everyone's experience is different and my 'mild' experience doesn't mean it's not a serious concern.
I worry how many people in the general population bother to test now. I certainly don't test on a regular basis, but given that I was feeling unwell, and had planned to go and visit people, it felt like the responsible thing to do. My test on Monday came back negative
There are so many things about Coronavirus that we still do not know and I worry that with the UK effectively pretending that it has gone away, we will never really be done with it.

I don't think it will ever go away, like all these other constantly mutating viruses we live with. I just hope most people are sensible, like you and I. Before Covid I would not go out and about with a cold either by the way. No matter how disappointing to cancel plans. Heck, I even skipped a concert Sunday, as people were so anxious of my Hayfever Saturday. I don't like causing such anxiety...

Hope you feel better soon Hann.
I work from home, so that hasn’t been a factor, but I hope I’d have opted to do that when I felt the cold symptoms.
I decided I wasn’t up for doing a 10k race tomorrow before I got my positive test result!

What’s the sensible and responsible thinking about testing and releasing these days?
Official guidance is to isolate for 5 days, but you may be infectious for up to 10.
My 10th day would be Sat 11 June which is when we should have been having a 70th birthday celebration for my mum. Given she’s in hospital, the family meal has been cancelled, but I’d still like to go and see her. Especially as this weekend is now scuppered.
I’m grateful this didn’t all happen during peak lockdowns. So many have had to deal with much more stressful outcomes.

The advice I've heard (from doctors on the radio, so can't give you a source) is that the LFT picks up 'dead' virus as well as 'active' so although you may be getting the second line when you test, you are decreasingly likely to still be infectious. If the day of your visit to your mum is your 10th day I think you would be ok, but that's obviously just my personal view.

Thanks LD. I know that people have reported positive tests for quite some time after getting it, so I’ll just be super cautious.

If it were me Scribbler I think I'd feel comfortable going to visit but maybe want to wear a medical grade mask if I was going to be in close contact.

Sorry to hear about the new infectees.
I am about 3.5 weeks post positive test. By 2 weeks on I was pretty much fine and all symptoms gone. In the last 4-5 days the cough has ‘come back’ and my chest feels tight/sore. Is this likely to still be Covid lurking around or something else new?!
