Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Didn’t realise you needed to put details down? The landlady knows my name in any case so that’s enough I expect :-D

Anyway I’m glad the pub is busy, it means we are getting back to normal.

I have a face to face job interview tomorrow which is another good sign. As a Hr professional I hope that we can be a beacon of example as everyone else returns to the office this autumn.

I’ve had to spend over £300 on a home office setup (I was contracting so no company to reimburse me). I cannot get fast WiFi speed in the house so working from home is not easy.

Fitting a desk and office chair in my very small cottage has meant I have had to lose some cherished family furniture which goes back several generations (fortunately it is now in a friend’s garage) and no longer have a dining table to use.

Wearing a mask isn’t much fun. Hopefully we can stop doing this soon.

I did a bit of digging on the ICO’s website and it does include this sentence

“Do not use an open access sign-in book where customer details are visible to everyone.“

Went for a walk with the dog tonight opting for a beer at one of our localish pub. We e been going most weeks since easing of lockdown.

Tonight because if the eat out to help our campaign it was bouncing but plenty free seats outside.

Queues to get in and registered on their app while we waited. Heard the staff tell the 3 groups in front of us the ‘rules’ as they’d not been since reopening.

Got to front and was told no tables said it’s for outside, sorry no tables free. There was 12 tables out the front but they had no service set up. So we had to walk through the bar to leave. 6 tables empty outdid.

Went to the pub a couple hundred yards away also busy but they had room in the garden (which is what we wanted)

It was lovely to see the pubs busy but I’m not sure it’s the right thing to be honest, yes the tables were well spaced and cleanliness is in place but I was a bit peeved that we go regularly not because there is a special offer on, there was room I don’t care what they say - they were hedging bets for food customers.

We passed after our drink at the other bar and only 2 of the beer garden out the back was almost empty. I just hope those coming for the special offer continue to support these places.

Note to self avoid special offer nights.

From experience of trying to eat out in the Lakes last week Mon-Wed is the new Thur-Sat when it comes to trying to book a table for dinner. Will be interesting to see if footfall overall goes up or not.

We ate out to help out last night everything fine except service was very slow as they are limited in the number of staff they can have due to social distancing.

Yeah and the idea has worked. The bar is very safe and we will go out for food sometime although we rarely eat out if I did we’d be more likely to do the Indian or Asian pub food we tend to do at weekends when we’re at the boat.

I just hope people remember to keep going not just because it’s cheap.

From what I'm seeing on the local eating-out FB page, I'm no longer envious of people who don't work Mon-Wed and think I'd rather pay the extra and eat out on non-discounted days. Should be good for the businesses, though.

Me too V-rap. Same reason I avoid the sales like mad!

Happy to support local businesses where I can and quieter days are the way to go. Talking of which I must book Zen soon.

Being able to eat out at all would be great.
