Agreed GG. I could work from home before, but rarely did because I found I was less productive. I've probably got over the worst of that now, but finding my resilience is being eaten away slowly by not being able to catch up/rant over coffee to just let things out. OH is therefore getting the brunt of my frustrations about work, which isn't fair on him.

Agree entirely jennyh and others, it won't happen overnight for many, at least not without a struggle. I'm thinking of the longer term when people consider house and job moves. If you aren't so tied down physically by a daily commute there are a lot more options and you tend to get more house for your money further away from the city centres.

TMW. You reminded me of a blog from a senior manager a few years back which started off something like.

I am writing this from my luxurious home office Reclining on my leather chair at my antique oak desk with glorious view of the countryside. I can smell the freshly mowed lawn that my peasants are tending to.....

I don’t think the average office monkey read any further than that.

I may have embellished the words but that’s exactly how the communication landed.

I miss the banter too. I have become more used to working at home though. I suspect it will be harder when Mr W is back at work and not at home everyday - it will get more lonely.
We have an office in the loft which was created by the people who lived here before us - it does make a difference to be able to keep your workstation separate from the rest of the house. I worked at the dining room table at the start of lockdown and I wouldn't want to do that long term, for all sorts of reasons.

i miss the banter and background noise too

I also used to walk to speak to people rather than messaging so wfh means I have to consciously move

Know what you mean, EP. I move far less during the day now that I'm wfh.

I hate the lack of activity with wfh - like others I'm working more but moving less as I've lost all the walking I did to/from the office. Running and dog walking doesn't make up for it. We just bought a turbo (along with half the planet it seems) to try and add some more activity in as I can't increase the running without risking injury.
