When the rules change so school kids don't have to all self isolate aren't they supposed to do daily LFTs?

gg - my wifi would say I'm in Dublin, because that's where it connects in to.

But if you have GPS/location turned on (Not everyone wants to have that turned on.) Or if your mobile is using mobile data, the location is pretty accurate.

Easy way to find out is just google "What is my IP address" and it will tell you where your internet connection tells websites or apps where you are. But note, this is different to if you have "Location / GPS" turned on, which is the wee pin/marker symbol on your mobile settings.

and I'm hearing from someone who finds out about these things that there's a "hack" which they can use to get a fake ping from the app to show their boss that they are supposed to self isolate,
knowing it's fake they then get 10 days off work to go on holiday or whatever.

Can't decide whether to be appalled or impressed at the ingenuity of some folks.

Never done a test. Not downloaded an app. Never been contacted by track and trace. A charmed sixteen months compared with most. Count my blessings daily.

We had our first member of staff to be pinged today so is off for 7 days. I think we have been fortunate not having had a single positive case and this is the first one to get a ping to isolate (that we are aware of). With regard to the pinging, its gone mad amongst friends and relatives, like no other time before. Its alarmed us somewhat at work and we have re-emphasised to all staff to be cautious as though we were back in January and are limiting access to the office (we have mainly mobile staff). I am now back at home working (I have been in the office since about May 2020) and we are re-addressing social distancing and bubbles. So effectively, yes, to us its January. We are however only recommending masks but then that isn't a key component to a company with an office layout and profile that we have.
