It still amazes me how many people have roles that can be done from home! Husband, Eldest and most of my neighbours (engineers, nurses, a vet and teachers etc) have all been working throughout. I've never had a job that could have been done solely from home - although occasionally paper editing or report writing was. |

HG - we are just happy she hasnt been made redundant which was the easy decision to make. They have 3 people in similar roles across 2 buildings and only Mrs Axe was furloughed. The other 2 were paid 100% to pop in regularly and just check on things, sort out mail and stuff. They should have furloughed 2 people (or redundancy) and had one person covering both buildings. Mrs Axe has really been lucky to have 15 months of 80% pay to essentially have a trial run at retirement and get our house and garden into good shape. Going back with nothing to do though is really tough. As I say though, they must value her and have kept her on which is good for our household. I assume they will call people back after 9th August which seems to be our date in Scotland. |

Well I hope they find something a bit more engaging for her to do. Of course, having the pay is worthwhile. Fingers crossed for good outcome.

UK top of the world today.... in new cases for one day. 42,302. Probably be able to keep the top spot for a while now.

Caveat: top of the world for identified new cases - we're doing a lot more testing than many countries

But what is the positivity rate? There's a whole bunch of people in the UK doing two or three tests at least every week. If the first you know of having Covid is a routine twice-weekly LFT test while asymptomatic that's likely a case that in other circumstances would otherwise be unreported. |

Indonesia is at 40,000 for the third day in a row. I don't know how many they test. |

also heard from my SHE lead today that government are removing free LFT tests in august so if you like the comfort of having them order some in advance.
