Hello Hanneee! I am VERY well and will be back in Blighty in April sometime. India was not a great success for me - but I will explain that nugget another time and not on this thread of course! How's you??

Oh and on the subject of bikes...I have lined up a NEW bike in addition to my prize and joy - a tri cross. Not sure what make though, any suggestions?? Am I correct that it only 2 companies specialise (excuse the pun) in tri crosses??

I have no idea what a tri cross is....

Glad to hear you are well and kicking :-) pitty to hear India was disappointing... I had a fab time in India and it was the total opposite of disappointing, it rose high above my expectations :-)

When I have time I will explain my thoughts on India - but I think I know why you had a good time and I didn't! It doesn't matter though, because it has made me FULLY appreciate what I have back home and also the rest of the world!!!

Ok Tri Cross is actually a product of Specialize - my OH has corrected me. What I am actually going to buy is a hybrid - racing/mountain bike...better know what the heck I am after before I part with my cash hey?!

Possibly, yes...

I think I had a good time in India because I went with no expectations... also, I have been several times before so I know it quite well by now and don't travel as a tourist...

Interesting what idio says about 44 miles being only 2.5 hours, that would be at 28 kph, 17.5 mph. For slower runners as for slower cyclists 12.5 mph (20kph) is perhaps more typical, or is it?

Those who have advised that 44 miles looks like a lot, you're right, tried some hills (running) first thing this morning, they were v difficult, so suffering from overtraining hangover!

Thanks for advise about running helping or possibly not helping running times, I suppose by August I'll know if it works in my case. If it stops me getting injured I'll be very happy..

As a training ride, 44 miles isn't very much, as idio says, but as a commute ON TOP of normal training, it is a bit too much I reckon...
