This is a good one, I blagged it for £28 in the Black Friday. I bought it as a back up but it's become my primary light! Battery is fab, and I never need to use the brightest setting! halfords.com

Exposure often does some good deals on their outlet store. Some items will be new others might be seconds.

Thanks guys. The halfords bikehut one looks very promising. It's about half the price of other 1000 lumens lights and has a gopro mount so I can save some bar space mounting it under the garmin.

Dave.0 - great call on the outlet store - I always thought exposure were out of my price range but didn't think to check for outlet stores. I should try to keep that in mind - especially after recently picking up some bargain shoes on Clarkes outlet store.3

I got myself an 800 lumens light with a gopro mount and remote for £38 from aliexpress

Gaciron Intelligent V7S series

gaciron.com

The light itself is really good but does drop a little from road vibration. I think a washer / bit of rubber in the gopro mount should fix it.

It comes with a plastic bar mount which works but wobbles a lot, so I replaced with a metal bar mount

Folks, I need some help from those that know, because I really don't.

I don't ride the bike much these days but I need to get myself a new helmet. I'm not riding enough to spend a fortune (budget about £50) but I need something that won't be terrible if I'm out for a couple of hours through the summer.

From a safety point of view they should all be pretty much of a muchness, right? It's the venting and comfort and adjustment that varies by maker and price isn't it?

I know you get what you pay for. I'm not expecting the world.

Any brands I should avoid? I'm seeing DHB, Giro, Bell and Specialised all doing something that looks fine in my price range. There's also a Catlike Kompact'O from 2018 on WIggle that looks good and I could stretch to if it gets good reviews. I've also seen Awe and MET
but I've never heard of them. Any opinions?

Any pointers you can give me to avoid me wasting my cash would be appreciated. Cheers folks.

Just spotted a Catlike Whisper for £58 on Chain Reaction and I'm tempted by the look. Any thoughts on that one?

Any of these brands could provide you with a perfectly good helmet provided it fits your head, Nellers. And "fits your head" is the big variable.

So buying online might be a false economy?

I had a Catlike Whisper a few years ago. I liked it a lot and would have had another if I'd been able to find one at £58 when I was replacing it, but I went for a Kask and that was good too.
