When you read what you wrote after getting in from the pub. That feeling.

To go back a page, my front tyre died on me today quite loudly. I have no idea how many miles it's done as I have two sets of tyres I use on that bike (the 25s don't fit under the mudguards so when the mudguards go on in winter I switch to 23s), but they're all crappy winter miles I suppose!
Thankfully I was only a mile from home so I could walk back, steal a wheel from my other bike and ride to the bike shop to pick up a new tyre and didn't have to try to make it rideable!

Loud YP? A few weeks ago on a group ride one of our number put his brake disc through the rear tyre of the bike in front. I don't think I ever heard such a loud bang from a bike wheel. It made big hole in the tyre too.

Yes - very loud! On the plus side it warned me that I needed to take care with my bike handling as I came to a halt...
Can imagine that a disc brake/tyre interface isn't fun!

It made a slit too long to bodge up so it was the end of his ride. We all remembered the pictures of someones leg that had met a disc in the pro peleton. I think I'm quite happy with rim brakes.

Morning all. Does anyone know of any bike frame manufacturers that have a reputation for frames with a long reach?
I spent a couple of hours yesterday getting a bike fit, largely with a view to getting advice on a new frame. The consequence of this was my front end was lowered and lengthened, something I reasonably comfortably achieved. However when we then looked at it with a view to a new frameset, I could just about get the right stack height for some of the smallest models in some ranges (size 47 Orbea, XXS Ridley), but would need a barge pole for a stem to achieve the required reach. I could look at a stem with a silly negative angle, but it's still all getting away from ideal.
I was just wondering if in anyone in the perusing of bikes has come across manufacturers that seem to do frames that are proportionately long in reach compared to stack height?
