Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I got mine to fit so they are reasonably snug (but comfortable) because as the guy said you don't want your feet sliding around.

Even though you've bought a road bike it might be worth looking at touring or MTB shoes. The have flat soles so you can walk about in them. Road shoes tend to be raised where the cleat is so make it quite difficult to run (I passed loads of people in transition in the triathlon cos I could run, and they could only hobble!)

Wiggle is usually pretty good and you can sometimes get a bargain.

Aaah H that's a good point. I will literally only be using the shoes for biking in, but I did have a thought today, if for some reason I had to get off and walk then I would have difficulty if I was in Road shoes. And I am thinking of triathlons next year, so I may get some other shoes. What sot do you have?

mtb shoes are more comfy as Hammerite says, but all serious cyclists use cleats that stick out and then walk on their heels like ducks. You'll enjoy learning how to unclip cleats but they're definitely worth it for getting up hills. SPD's are fine, as are the other main brands

I have some really cheap Lidl shoes!! They do the trick at least until I start riding a hell of a lot more.

One thing to consider about walking in them though is if you need to stop at a shop, or ride to work before you can change into proper shoes.

Jules I'm not sure I would ever be able to class myself as a serious cyclist
