Yep - You’ll get used to the sight of people clip-clopping their way through transition:-)

You can also use MTB style shoes with recessed cleats...or just one set of shoes for both disciplines.

Or be like me - I only ever cycle in trainers so only one pair of shoes.
This year though I'm going to wear socks, the blisters were horrid last time. I need to master putting socks on wet feet without sitting down, my current attempts are somewhat amusing

my tip re socks is to ensure you wear mono skin socks - twin skin are impossible to put on with wet feet! have you tried kneeling on one knee. it's a good compromise between standing/wobbling and sitting

Out the pool and run to bike

Put helmet on !!!!

Shoes on clop clop clop

Mount bike after line

Come back and get off bike before the line clop clop clop

Rack bike take helmet off take shoes off

Put trainers on and run free.

It gets easier and smoother but to start just follow a plan.

The benefit of bike shoes on a bike outweighs the time penalty for changing them.

I have won races and yet have never attached my bike shoes to my bike.

Learning to remove your feet from the shoes as you return is a more useful skill.

Good luck

Angus Clydesdale
My friend, Bert, made himself a shoe-sized flat plate attached to pedals and he straps his running shoes onto it with a broad Velcro strap. Only for Sprint and SuperSprint events. He reckons the time saving is worth it. To be fair, he made them in the mid-80s and I think he mostly uses them to make folks smile. As he’s 78 he’s got no problem winning his AG with or without them. :)

Angus - have seen the plates in sprints.

They have potential for sure
