Given your recent issues, I'd say that's definitely a good effort, nicely done.

@Nellers these days I rarely lift what was my warm up weight. I can only do a handful of pull ups and my shoulder pops doing dips.

I'm not alright with it but that is my reality.

I get it, @Gobi . You just have to do what you can do.

If it's any consolation I've never managed a dip in my life! Pull ups I can manage but dips are another thing entirely!

Right, I'm starting to wonder what's going on.

After last night's success with my squats I thought I'd give the Bench Press the same attention tonight. Previous 1rm was 53.5kg, which is not big by most standards, I know, but it's what I've managed.

So I started with 28.5kg because I've not benched in months (Maybe last time was April?) but I have done quite a lot of press ups, and I was doing 5 reps each set. The build up was just to see where I got to and when I pressed out 5 reps at 53.5 I was a bit surprised and also nervous as I've got no spotter and if it goes wrong I'm in a spot of bother.

Still, I've got little fractional plates so I clicked up to 54.5 then 55.5kg, both for 5 reps.

So that's my best ever bench and I repped out 5 and if I had a spotter I'd have gone up again because I don't think I was at my limit.

So just how good is Creatine, because apart from not lifting heavy for ages and having a bad back the only other major change I've made is to be taking 5g of Creatine every day over the last few months.

Alternatively is my X Gene or secret Kryptonian identity starting to manifest itself? ;-)

Creatine is good, but nowhere near that good. I would suggest either call Kal-El or consider that press ups are a very similar movement, albeit with differing mechanics, and they have seemingly helped you a lot more than you thought.

I take creatine but have no evidence of if it makes a difference! 😜😂

My current target is to improve my form on bench press which I do once a week.... warm up weights then 3 sets of 15 reps at 29kgs.

My deadlifts I also do once a week. Currently warm up weights and then 3 sets of 8 reps at 59kg. I'm trying to work up to 60kg which is my body weight so very close but coach (aka Mr Ness) says I need to improve my form before increasing the weight any more!)
