Got that 70% at HM distance at last.

It was tough and not feeling quite as elated as I should, but I did it.

Once again, I can't put my finger on how the following happened.

I ran the four & half miles from home to Worthing parkrun this morning. It was into a headwind & it chucked it down all the way there. It was cold as well. I dived into the Worthing Splashpoint Swimming Complex to use their toilet facilities & to warm up before the start.

As usual, because of the rain, I wasn't wearing my hearing aids. I just have to wait for people around me to start running before I know the parkrun has started. So, by the time I realized the run had started, loads of runners had swarmed by me.

On the outward leg, I was struggling because I was cold & I was wet, though by this time, the rain had relented.

At the 180 degree turn back towards the finish, I felt I was really struggling. Imagine my surprise, when I got home, to find I was first in my age group, had got round in 22:32, giving me a WAVA of 73.74%.

As I alluded to in my first sentence, I was cold & wet & felt pretty miserable from the start. There's hope for this old codger yet.
