I've done one 5k OW swim and tbh that was enough for me! I found it very psychologically challenging and I couldn't face another one. And there's no way I could do the distance in a pool Good luck to the rest of you, hope you enjoy it more than I did

I could be tempted by that. My 10k the other year downstream probably equalled a normal 5k or less. It won’t be in a pool though:) |

It's a maybe from me, I did manage something close to 5k once last year in an outing involving several stops, though the cold got to me before the end (in August, but Ullswater doesn't seem to know about summer). Either laps of Capernwray or perhaps an organised event if I can fit in with one.

I'm up for this. I'm promising myself at least a couple of 5ks this year. If anyone is interested, Swimathon weekend will be 10-12th September this year, and there will be Open Water and Pool options: swimathon.org |
