GG, please give your mum my congratulations, as one who is a lot younger - I'll be 72 in November. At our age, we get lots of complimentary remarks, by fellow runners and also non-runners. One young lady in her mid-20s, who started running fairly recently has said more than once to me, and also to my wife who is 69 this month (GrandmaS), "You're my inspiration"! That really motivates us to keep going for as long as we can. I trust that your mum will keep running for many years to come.

Pleased to have just passed the 300 mile mark so still behind where I should be but this weekend's marathon will get me a bit closer.

How was Bacchus, GG? Not too hilly or intoxicating I hope!
Just got back from the Rewell Wood Marathon near Arundel. Hills, steps, mud and plenty of tripping hazards like protruding flint and tree roots. 8k into the race, myself and another runner felt we had taken the wrong turning (add one mile to the distance). We were then met by about 12 other runners who were also lost having taken another wrong turn. We then had another signage problem shortly after. A pretty naff time, not helped by poor signage and extra mileage in addition to a demanding course.
Not a race that I will be putting in my diary for 2018 even if I did get a free burger.

Hi all apple for lack of postage following Bacchus we went to France for a week holiday then I had a conference when I got back finally made it home Thursday night.
So Bacchus was erm a challenge.... first 3 miles were a climb as we went though the vineyard where we were met with our first wine tasting. Quick slurp and carried on. Miles 4-5.5 were rolling and very nice then 5.5 to 7 were up hill with 3/4 very steep. The terrain was largely trail, gravel, tree roots, rocks, grass, but of mud and occasional paths.
We completed lap 1 well within cutoff but at start of lap 2 EB went over hard on her ankle so we slowed it down and walked the hills. We both had a few ankle turns on the roots/rocks and a few choice words but what made up for it was the lovely scenery and of course the wine!!
We were the last finishers but a few people dropped out at lap 1 saying it was too challenging!!! Super chuffed to do it and call myself a marathoner and I signed up for the next one in March - Kielder Dark Skies so a night marathon - eeekkk
Also did Paras10 with my Mam the week before she was phenomenal so very proud of her one hell of a woman.

Just thought I would pop up and say hello as it's been a while since I've posted anything. I've been busy marathon training and with only 3 weeks to go until the big day I find myself only 15 miles off the 500 so all being well will pass that next week.
Well done to all those training and racing

mmmm struggling to update the header, the race planner won't open for me. I'll keep trying.
Also forgot to say thank you Ev for your kind words for GM. She was taking to a lady at church who said she had inspired her and she was going to take up running. At the Paras10 I kept telling everyone she was the eldest woman on the course and as much as I got wrong for telling them she loved it really when everyone was amazed at her. She's a diamond....
