GG - sounds a special 5k you & GM did, good luck with the 18 Taz - hope you've captured that impetus and got it working for you Feeling heavy & under the weather this week, may have got a bit carried away and done a bit much last week, never mind I'm black hearted for the month already, and have some momentum if fingers crossed I can keep the niggles at bay |

Not running this week to give my legs/knees a rest. Also, there is a 10k this Sunday which I organise in the South Croydon area that will be taking up a fair bit of my time. If anyone fancies a relaxed multi-terrain 10k, I'd love to see you: fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=1337707 |

Well a bit late with the update but not only did I do 18 but I extended the run to 20miles!!!! Yes I did 20miles!!! It was a fairly flat run but made up for a challenge as largely on grass verges on ridiculously fast and rather busy roads. I did it in 3h 57m and am still shocked. My legs are feeling great I doubt helped by the 5m walking we did the rest of the day. Had yesterday and today off and I'll hopefully plod tomorrow. Thanks for the good wishes guys. |

I was going to say sorry, that I haven't been on here for a while, but I notice that others haven't either. I haven't done much running for some time because for the first time, I've got, so it seems, Plantar Fasciitis, which isn't pleasant, even though it's not very painful most of the time. Every week or so I keep trying a short run to test it out again, but then I find increased pain either that evening or the next day. I hope you folks haven't been plagued by injury too much, and that you're doing some good running. |

Sorry to hear about your injury Evangel hope it improves soon. Time flies, can't believe it's been over a month since I posted anything here!! In fairness most of that month was spent working ridiculously long hours with barely any time off so running was virtually non-existent. Because of this I've had to rethink my marathon training plans and rather than following the Furman (run less, run faster) plan which my fitness level has dropped too much to contend with I'm looking at following (at least roughly) the Hal Higdon Intermediate 1 training plan. More runs per week, more overall mileage, but with a focus on slower paced runs. So far I'm enjoying it, I've ran Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, the last time I had a three day running streak was back in 2011 which coincidentally was the year I ran my first (and until October) only marathon. Hope everyone else is getting on ok. |

Oh Ev that is awful to hear, I was troubled with PF in the past and I took heed from Hendo and Gymfreak and gave in to get it fixed.... Hendo's experience terrified me! Get well soon fella. I have picked up a niggle in my foot, tendon that runs behind my ankle and in back of heel. Went to see a sports therapist yesterday and the heel pain is right where the ACL attaches to the foot so I'm glad I didnt ignore it. The tendons in my foot were tight and then he hit my calf.... OMW it absolutely killed me, I have a high pain threshold but it was tested! I have a beautiful bruise right up my inner calf and I think there will be more to come out on the outer part of my calf too. But I do bruise easily and it was a very deep tissue massage. Good news is that I can keep running but I have strict streching/foam rolling programme to follow. 5 weeks to my marathon 4 weeks to paras 10 with geordiemum so I need to get myself moving on this now. I am doing HH intermediate plan Hally I find it achievable even if I don't manage all runs - I've missed a couple of long runs but as I've hit 20 already I am not stressing about it and my marathon is more marafun as we have no time pressure the target is the distance. Good luck with injury healing and training and hope everyone else is ok too. |
