Amazed at myself post....
So yesterday my car was going in for service and MOT. It's quite a way from home as the garage is near where I used to work and I trust them implicitly- what else to do but take an early finish, drop it off and run home.... 14miles!!! My longest run to date!!!
I was doing great to 6/7m, then the hill I stared just before mile 5 got to me. Mile 8 was my slowest at 13.31 but mile 9 I pulled out a 10.22!! Maybe helped with jingle Bells coming on my shuffled play hahaha Overall avg was 11.22 and I am well chuffed.
Could eat a scabby horse today lol.
Busy weekend ahead bestie is up for the weekend and we've got a girls get together then friends coming round for drinks Sunday afternoon - busy but lovely!!
Hope you all have a good one
How was last weeks Mara Phil?

GG, well done on your 14 mile run. I haven't run that sort of distance for about 6 years.
Tomorrow I'll be doing a tempo run at the local cycleway.

Well done, GG - you're doing great!
I thought last week's marathon would have the odd hill but it turned out to be relentless undulations including a few big hills that needed climbing twice! The terrain was mixed and particularly rutted in places. Despite the moan and that my time was a tad slow, I did enjoy the race what with some great views over the reservoir and local AONB.
Just deciding whether to go out for a short run this weekend as the calves are still a bit sore, or just to rest up ahead of next Saturday's race.

sounds like a toughie Phil! Maybe take yourself out for a gently unwind on the legs, have you tried calf guards? I had some on most of today and they are feeling surprisingly fresh now. Good luck next week - you're certainly cramming the marathons in - how are you finding them so close together?
I am more inclined to go out for a long run than a short one, think the longer runs take more planning so I'm looking forward to it and its different to the day to day routes.
Enjoy your tempo run Ev.

I started wearing compression socks to run in for just over a year now and also a pair of recovery compression tights although I must do this out of routine more often.
Next week is my fourth of the year although I'm only planning one a month during the summer. Apart from cramp, thankfully I've stayed injury-free.

Yes GG, I did. I had my hottest run so far this year. I went out for a 7 mile run at about 4.30pm and the temperature was about 22C even in this rarefied atmosphere of the high-ish ground in our part of South Wales. I struggled a bit in the last km. or so, because it was uphill with almost no breeze blowing. Yet 25 years ago I would sometimes run at lunchtime in temperatures of 30C., without worrying. That's what getting old does, I suppose!
